Bye 2023 ~ Hello 2024

«You are not missing out on anything when you are busy working on your goals and dreams.
Stay focused.«

2023 was a year of learning to deal with the medicine for my mind and accepting what I was diagnosed within 2021. What I experienced in 2022, what I lost, and what I gained. What I gained is very significant. I realized how valuable friends and family are. I stopped being afraid of the tumor I have in my brain. I gained a life partner, Nina, and she has been with me since October 2023.

In 2023 I had the best job ever, I worked as a UX/UI Consultant. I felt so good working as a leader in my area. I enjoyed the SCRUM workshops we attended, and the QA test course during my career in that company. Thanks to the good salary I was able to live without asking my parents for financial help after I stopped working. Unfortunately, I started my 2024, with practically no savings, until I started working as a Content Strategist. It’s not my dream job but it helped me to finish decorating my living room. The next project is the dining area.

I started 2024 with the good company of my little dog Nina. She is three to four years old, the vets are not 100% sure. She is a mix between a shih tzu and another puppy because she has waves in her coat. She looks chubby but it is only hair. We found her in Mitad del Mundo. My sister rescue her. I will tell you in summary what Nina lived and how she is now with me. I always will say she took away the bitterness I was living with and the depression.

On October 22nd, it was Vale and my sister’s birthday celebration at my aunt and uncle’s house who live in Mitad del Mundo. We were in a taxi that my sister made stop suddenly. When she saw a small dog trying to get into someone’s house and at the same time running away because that person threw water at her, she was almost run over by a car. My sister picked her up off the street, and Nina was trembling. We gave Nina a bath at my aunt and uncle’s house, got out her fleas, ticks and we cut her hair with the help of my cousins. It was Sunday, so not much could be done. On Monday we took her to get her hair cut and fix the mess we made the day before. They told us she had to be shaved. Then, we went to the vet and he gave her the rabies vaccine without realizing that she had a little cough, later she almost died on Tuesday.

She woke up in the morning with a cough, we took her to the vet but with the medicine she did not get better. My sister got very worried and took her to a more expensive vet. She was diagnosed with kennel cough, and was given a treatment with corticoids. Nina had to take the medicine twice a day on a full stomach. On those days the doctor told my sister that if she did not improve and her trachea became narrower, we had to consider the dog’s quality of life. In other words, she had to be put to sleep forever. My sister did not tell me that until she recovered 100%.

During that period we put her on adoption in internet: a sterilized dog, dewormed, looking for a permanent home. Unfortunately, no one responded to our message. So the months passed and Nina bonded with me, we understood each other very well. It’s been three months now and I can definitely say that she will be my life companion until God decides to take her. She is very cuddly and loves attention, while I am working she is under my desk or sleeps in her little bed next to my desk. My job is remote so I can take her to do her business 3 or 2 times a day around my neighborhood.

Nina is my furry daughter and I love her very much. Thanks to my mental condition she can travel with me as an emotional support dog on planes and buses. She only needs a muzzle because she barks at every dog she sees. And with this I say goodbye, I hope you liked my update of my life so far, let’s see how it continues this year. I also hope that Morita is encouraged to write something in this our blog of inseparable friends :D.
